Firstly, you should have a positive thinking that it is not a big deal to discover Fansipan. Everyone can do if they prepare carefully for their trip.
(1) Select time to start: With the height 3143 meters, Fansipan has different climate. In the summer, the highest temperature is up to 150C and in the winter, it can be down under zero. Therefore, if you want to challenge yourself, you can choose to go in the winter.
If not, you should go in the summer. To myself, I think the ideal time to win Fansipan is from November to January because this time it is not too cold and it does not rain a lot.
(2) Select tour: At the current, there are two popular tours: 3 days and 2 nights tour and 2 days 1 night tour to discover Fansipan. With the first tour, your trip will not too stressful but you have to face with the challenge of the weather and your health status.
(3) Prepare your health: You need to have a good health. If you often play sports, basically, discovering Fansipan is not a big deal. But if you do not have time to play sport, especially, to the sport which requires the movement and action of leg, you should spend your time practicing it before deciding to go. Besides, you should pay attention to do exercise with your leg, heart rate and breath. If you are staying at apartment, you should walk on stairs (run or walk). It will help you much to discover Fansipan.
(4) Prepare about personal items: there are five important things to prepare for this trip. The first thing is shoes. You should have a pairs of shoes with these following standards: soft, light, long lasting and have good adhesive ability. The sole of shoes must be strong but its back can not be too firm and especially, you must be familiar with it. You should buy the specialized shoes.
Many people think that we should use shoes of soldier. However, soldier’s shoes can help you deal with a lot of problems but it does not support you with wet blocker. Therefore, your leg can be cold and you loose your climbing ability.
One more important thing is knapsack. You should use the knapsack having lines to carry and have a belt to make your belly tidy. It should be light and has wet blocker to protect the things inside.
Clothes can be changed due to the time you go. In the winter, you should bring a body cotton suit to maintain your temperature which provides a middle layer insulating the temperature and the outside layer protect you from the wind and rain. Also, you should wear a cotton suit in case you are stuffy and sweating.
The best trousers are light and shrank. You should not use the belt. Basically, you should bring some items for personal daily life such as fire (zipo), multi – purpose knife, water bottle, small drug box … Finally, you should bring a stick which can be connected with your wrist in case it is dropped. To the one who often walk or climb mountain, a stick is very helpful. If you do not follow travel agency, you should bring a sleeping bag and even a tent (in case you buy tour, these things will be provided and someone will bring it for you).
(5) Food, drink: You should prepare dried food to provide nutrition and energy and the best is the things do not make your stomach thick and uncomfortable, but still add more energy immediately. Many foreign tourists often bring gluco sugar. You should bring some mineral water bottles, and drink a little at one time, but drink many times. You should not drink a lot to avoid you are full of water. Then, you will feel not comfortable and affects to your muscles and it is not good for climbing.
